Black Dub
Daniel Lanois and his new band Black Dub have only recently been introduced to us here at Encore HQ, but what an introduction.
The band features Grammy award-winning producer Daniel Lanois [U2, Bob Dylan] on guitar, New Orleans virtuoso Brian Blade, a seasoned musician who has performed with jazz titans such as Wayne Shorter and Herbie Hancock, on drums, the incendiary and impassioned vocals of Belgian born Trixie Whitley, the beautiful 22-year-old daughter of the late, great Texas bluesman, Chris Whitley, and rounding out the quartet is famed Louisiana bass player Daryl Johnson.
Over the course of the album’s eleven tracks, Black Dub cooks up an undeniable concoction of rock, blues, dub, reggae and soul. Primarily recorded live, there’s a natural sense of urgency to each and every song, and it grabs listeners instantly.
Their first single I Believe in You certainly is making “believers” of us here at Encore and fans everywhere.
