A Peter Gabriel Experience

Peter Gabriel has raised the bar to new heights.  This legendary singer, founder of the band Genesis, and humanitarian will exceed all expectations with his latest performance.  He is returning to Boston for a concert unlike any other.  So, put all your preconceived notions aside, and get ready for quite the experience.

Attendee’s will find themselves at a strikingly different concert than that of a man who has been featured on just about every classic rock radio station for the past couple decades.  Perhaps the desire to deviate from the standard black and white performance is what makes Peter Gabriel so remarkable.  He is constantly advancing himself as an artist, and a person.  Throughout his career he has never settled with the familiar.  He has always pushed past the established boundaries of music.  Through this concert he advocates a musical metamorphose.  Having had the opportunity to explore music since the start of his career in 1967, Gabriel has raised the stakes for other artists and created a new standard and quality of music.

Gabriel is pumping new life into his music, as well as the music of others with the help of the appropriately titled New Blood Orchestra.  Some “new blood” is exactly what this orchestra is lending Gabriel.  It certainly has become the life force behind Gabriel’s fresh new style.  Contrary to his days in Genesis, this concert will feature absolutely no drums or guitars.  Have no fear Gabriel fans!  With the support of a 54-piece orchestra this concert will be a special treat for anyone who has a true appreciation for music.

For those who have previously relied on a band consisting of roaring guitar solos and booming percussion, a switch to solely using an orchestra could be extremely difficult to manage.  It could also be terribly detrimental to the entire presentation of an artist’s music.  However, keep in mind we are not dealing with just any musician.  The genius that is Peter Gabriel allows this unconventional tactic to prevail.  For one who has made music his life work, Gabriel is more than entitled and qualified to reinvent his music.

This concert will feature a reconstruction of Gabriel’s hits from the past 44 years, as well as a reconstruction of the music of fellow artists.  His concert line up will consist of his own songs as well as titles from his latest album; Scratch My Back.  This album is a unique composition of various rock and pop songs that Gabriel chose to cover in 2010.  Audience members can expect to hear covers of such songs as, Heroes by David Bowie, My Body is a Cage by Arcade Fire, Philadelphia by Neil Young, and The Boy in the Bubble by Paul Simon.  The evening will then turn to more vintage material with stirring renditions of classic Gabriel songs such as In Your Eyes, Solsbury Hill, Red Rain and Don’t Give Up. Set lists are subject to change, but considering the tremendous responses from the audiences who have already experienced this concert, these songs should certainly appear again.
