The Boston Conservatory Dance Theater will highlight its immeasurable talent by presenting one classic and premiering three new pieces in November. Boston Conservatory faculty member Jennifer Scanlon, who was a principal dancer with the Limón Company for 21 years, will present a restaging of the José Limín 1956 masterpiece “There is a Time”. The piece is based upon the Book of Ecclesiastes, which famously reads, “To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under heaven….” In fact, the three accompanying premiere pieces revolve around this theme also, which the Boston Conservatory has named “A Time for Dance”.

The first of the premieres is Boston Conservatory faculty member Mary Wolff’s “Colony,” inspired in part by the movement of insects. The second is Guest artist Bonnie Mathis’s “Contrasts,” inspired by the music and dance forms of the Carpathian mountains, bringing together folk dance and modern movement. The third is faculty member Gianni Di Marco’s “Muñecos (Dancing Dolls),” which is described as “a Bachian Bacchanal.” Each piece reflects elements of the theme originally realized in “There is a Time”.

Performances take place Thursday—Saturday, Nov. 5—7 at 8 p.m. and Sunday, Nov. 8 at 2 p.m., at Midway Studios, 15 Channel Center St., in Boston’s Fort Point Channel neighborhood. Tickets are $22 general admission, $12 for senior citizens and $7 for all students with valid ID. Box Office: www.bostonconservatory.edu/tickets or (617) 912-9222.
