Few choreographers have been named one of People magazine’s Most Eligible Bachelors. However, Trey McIntyre is unlike any other choreographer. He set out to build a dance career his own way, first by creating works for reputable performing companies like the Stuttgart Ballet, American Ballet Theatre, Hubbard Street Dance Chicago and New York City Ballet.

These experiences eventually led him to the creation of The Trey McIntyre Project in 2004. The project is now a full-time touring dance company and is set to premiere in at The Institute of Contemporary Art/Boston from November 20–22. The Trey McIntyre Project incorporates dance set to both classical and contemporary music to convey McIntyre’s vision to “use the inherent beauty of ballet vocabulary to create dances that authentically and clearly convey the emotion and grace of life’s journey, while meaningfully engaging audiences in the experience of art.”

The Boston debut of The Trey McIntyre Project will include his dance creations A Day In The Life, set to music by The Beatles, High Lonesome to music by Beck, The Blue Boy set to Beethoven and (serious) set to the jazz of Henry Cowell. Each performance of The Trey McIntyre Project at The Institute of Contemporary Art will also include a free pre-performance talk with dance critic Debra Cash 45 minutes prior to each show. A free post-performance Q & A is also planned on Friday, Nov. 20th.
