The Huntington Theatre’s 2009–2010 season is on a roll, pumping out quality theatrical productions one after another. Arthur Miller’s All My Sons looks to be no different. Having snagged director David Esbjornson (a man whom Miller himself chose as a director for his last two plays late in life) was a bold and promising move. Explains Peter DuBois, Huntington’s Artistic Director: “David Esbjornson was Arthur’s director of choice late in life, staging the premieres of his last two plays. I knew he would be the most exciting director to helm our production of All My Sons, and I am so pleased he agreed. He’ll bring a singular perspective to Miller’s earliest masterpiece.”

The play itself follows the story of a family whose lives (and deaths) are profoundly affected by World War II. The Kellers, like many American families at the time, have made their living working on war projects and have two soldier sons. But not everything is so cookie-cutter about the Kellers. Eldest brother Larry has been missing in action for three years and mother Kate cannot seem to come to grips with his inevitable fate. Younger brother Chris is home from the war and hoping to marry Larry’s old flame Kate, but her return to the Keller home, and the place in which she grew up seems only to stir up deeply-hidden secrets and buried feelings. All My Sons is a piece of art about human nature, and what war—and the American Dream—can tell us about it.

All My Sons will play January 8–February 7, 2010 at the Boston University Theatre Mainstage, 264 Huntington Avenue. For more information or to purchase tickets, please visit www.huntingtontheatre.org.
