A simple explanation of [title of show], is given in the musical itself: “a musical about two guys writing a musical about two guys writing a musical.” The musical that played on Broadway last year for more then 100 regular performances was originally conceived as a meta-cognitive extrapolation of attempts by two friends to write an original submission for the New York Musical Theatre Festival—in other words, the play about actors writing a submission to a musical theater festival played to critical success at a musical theater festival and launched the show’s creators, Jeff Bowen and Hunter Bell, into Broadway’s biggest realm. Now, after successful runs off and on-Broadway, [title of show] is making its Boston premiere at Speakeasy.

Running January 15–February 13, 2010, [title of show] stars Jordan Ahnquist, Amy Barker, Joe Lanza and Val Sullivan as the four leads, and the show will be directed by Paul Daigneault who founded Speakeasy in 1992 and has been dedicated to Boston premieres ever since.

The real beauty of [title of show] is its transformative nature. While the show was written and conceived by the actors who originated the lead roles, the double-duty nature of the show allows any actor filling these characters’ roles the opportunity to imbue the parts with the own personalities. The result is the perfect premiere, something at once familiar and one-of-a-kind. [title of show] will be performed at the Calderwood Pavilion at the Boston Center for the Arts, 527 Tremont Street in Boston’s South End.
