Groovaloo is A Chorus Line for the hip-hop generation. The theatrical experience—borne from the real life stories of the dance group who perform the show—is a modern twist on the successful formula. Co-creators Bradley “Shooz” Rapier and Danny Cistone have collaborated with members of the award winning Groovaloos to create the hip-hop show. After spending a number of years with Rapier and the rest of the Groovaloos, director Cistone created the show using the true to life tales he drew from the dancers. Now, after an incredibly successful run in New York, Groovaloo has hit the road and is making a stop at Boston’s Hanover Theatre February 9, 2010.

While the narrative element of the show is inspirational, the dance elements are truly spell binding. Unquestionably, dance has made a resurgence in the pop culture lexicon. With the popularity of television programs such as So You Think You Can Dance and America’s Best Dance Crew, dance of all types has come into the average American’s lives. The dancing in Groovaloo is best described as pulse-pounding, a visual assault that leaves audiences on the edge of their seats wondering what is going to happen next.

More than just dance, Groovaloo inspires audiences to conquer life passionately, tackling obstacles with zest. As a line in the show says, “Life isn’t always choreographed, sometimes you have to improvise.” The message permeates throughout, finding dancers from many different fields coming together to make their dreams come true.
