It Gets Better: Broadway Supports the Trevor Project

Dan Savage, creator of “It Gets Better”

The intention of the It Gets Better Project is to provide support for LGBT youth, reassuring them that although things might be tough now, things will improve. It’s terrible that such a project even has to exist, but we’re glad that it does. It was created by Dan Savage in September of this year, and since then, many stars have recorded and uploaded videos telling teens that “it gets better,” including Neil Patrick Harris, Anne Hathaway, Barack Obama and Rob Thomas.

The project doesn’t accept donations, but does ask that if you would like to donate that you send the funds to the Trevor Project, which is where some of tonight’s “It Gets Better: Broadway Supports the Trevor Project” proceeds go to. The 6 p.m. one-time concert features some big Broadway names, including Brent Barrett and Stephen Schwartz, all lending their support to suicide prevention among gay, bisexual and transgender youth.
