She’ll reprise her starring role as Deloris Van Cartier

Whenever Whoopi Goldberg announces something, you know it’s going to be good. Earlier today, Goldberg, along with Stage Entertainment, revealed that Olivier Award-nominee Patina Miller will reprise her starring role as Deloris Van Cartier in Sister Act when it premieres on Broadway in spring 2011. Miller originated the role in the West End production of the musical.
According to a press release, “Patina Miller was nominated for an Olivier Award for Best Actress in a Musical and won the Whatsonstage.com Theatregoers Choice Award for Best Actress in a Musical for her performance as Deloris Van Cartier in the West End production of Sister Act. Previously in New York, she played Dionne in the Public Theatre’s 2008 production of Hair at the Delacorte Theatre. Ms. Miller also appeared on the ABC daytime television program All My Children. She holds a BFA in Musical Theatre from Carnegie Mellon University.”
