Things are getting cold out there, but that doesn’t mean you still can’t have some fun outdoors, especially if you’re running in a certain world famous marathon. For the rest of us lazy folk, we’ve got a few other suggestions, too.

The Juggalo
Friday, November 5
Mishka, 7 p.m.

I, for one, am fascinated by the Juggalo. In case you’ve been living in a Pat Boone World for the past, I dunno, 10 years, you’d know that a Juggalo (or Juggalette) is the nickname for a hardcore fan of Insane Clown Posse and their label, Psychopathic Records. Think Parrotheads, but with makeup and looser morals. Earlier this year, photographer Jason Shaltz followed ICP protégés Twiztid across the country, taking pictures along the way. Tonight at Mishka is the debut of the photos, along ICP tributes, Faygo and horrorcore DJs spinning your favorite Dark Lotus tracks.

“Inwards and Outwards”
Friday, November 5-Wednesday, December 15
Stellan Holm Gallery

If photos of insane clowns and their posses isn’t your thing, what about beautiful black and white photos of Tom Waits, Iggy Pop, Bruce Springsteen, Kate Moss and more? They’re all shot by Anton Corbijn, director of The American, who gained intimate one-on-one familiarity with all his subjects. According to a press release, “Like so much of Corbijn’s oeuvre, this series of portraits astutely portrays those whose creativity and fervor have served to shape the culture around us. Corbijn demonstrates a personal, contemplative view towards his subjects, and above all, an adoration for these important and iconic figures.”

Chowder Cook Off Benefit
Saturday, November 6
Jimmy’s No. 43, 1-4 p.m.

All the chowder (chowdah!) you can eat for $10? Sounds like a challenge. A delicious challenge.

Fall Foliage Walk
Saturday, November 6
Wave Hill, 1 p.m.

If you’ve had a busy week at work—and if you haven’t, we hate you—relax with a fall foliage walk at Wave Hill, which overlooks the Hudson River and Palisades. The trees are at their most colorful right now, and guide Charles Day (presumably not related to this Charles Day) will take you on a tour of the grounds, showing you some of his favorite trees. Just don’t make the same mistake as Marge…

New York City Marathon
Sunday, November 7

For lifelong New Yorkers, miles mean nothing. They measure things in blocks, avenues, subway stops and distances between Chase Bank ATMS, unlike, well, everyone else in the country who drive to work every day and know the route that saves a third of a mile, just to save that 0.15 cents in gas. To help make the 26.2 miles of the Marathon more understandable for those who never leave Manhattan, we’ll put things into NYC terms: it’s like running from the Verizon Building downtown to Yankee Stadium, then running back to the Verizon Building, then running to El Museo Del Barrio on 105th Street. Got it now?
