Me, Them & Lara, presented by the Film Society of Lincoln Center, tells the tale of an Italian missionary priest, Carlo, as he returns to his family back home, only to find them in a staggering state of danger. His father, much to Carlo’s suspicion, has moved on from the death of Carlo’s mother, only to be youthfully rejuvenated by his new wife, Olga. Carlo now must deal with his own misgivings, as well as those of his family around him, who reluctantly deal with Carlo’s interference. When all seems to have come to a settling in Carlo’s life, he finds his world intertwining with Lara’s, a young heiress who leads a double life.

This comedy, directed by and starring Carlo Verdone, has received praise within the Italian film world for its fine acting. Me, Them & Lara will be playing at the Walter Reade Theatre on June 5 and June 9.
