Do You Remember the First Time?

When it comes to Pulp, I will—assuming they play NYC!

Do You Remember the First Time?

The last time every original member of Pulp—Jarvis Cocker, Nick Banks, Candida Doyle, Steve Mackey, Russell Senior and Mark Webber—was on the same stage at the same time was August 24, 1996. The band didn’t break up then (although Senior left), and Jarvis & Co. would go on to make This Is Hardcore and We Love Life. In December 2002, though, the Britpop pioneers called it quits, amidst rumors of squabbling within the group.

But now, like every other good band from the 1990s (except Nirva—oh, wait…), Pulp is reuniting. So far, the only shows they’ve announced are the Wireless Festival in London and Primavera Festival in Spain, both in 2011. If they ‘cross the pond and play in America, you have to assume they’ll play New York. You will come to New York, right, guys…? Jarvis, we even bought Futher Complications because we love you so much!

On the band’s website, there is a slideshow of a number of questions regarding the comeback tour. We answer some of them:

We’ll answer your question with one of our own: are you a dedicated swallower of fascism?

I assume that’s the reason for every reunion tour. That, and money.

Well, that about sums up my life.

For now, it is, but if the Stone Roses decide to reunite…Speaking of Britpop:

Screw. Blur.

Can America take credit for Pulp, too?

I have no idea what this means.

/goes to Urban Dictonary

/discovers it means “A very informal gathering for any type of celebration. Involving plenty of impromptue singing, dancing and drinking. Probably Cockney in origin.”

Then, yes. Also, everything should “probably” be “Cockney in origin.”

Namely, “Wickerman.”

Wonderful, wonderful nostalgia.
