Cara Quici: The New Lady Gaga

Watch out Lady Gaga, there’s a new dance princess in town who will soon be ruling radio airwaves, infecting the ladies with catchy beats and gracing the covers of magazines. Her name is Cara Quici and today, her debut single, “Away From You,” is released on iTunes (which can be listened to here).

Though she may be the new kid on the block, it’s quite impressive that this newcomer is working with reputable people. Under her manager, Darwin Ortiz, she was able to have Executive Producer Max Gousse, Senior VP of Def Jam Universal, working with her on her debut single and oversee her album, anticipated to be released next year. In a few months, she’ll be everywhere but this chick isn’t in it to sell out. Cara is an artist who is business savvy as well. The former model explains, “There aren’t that many new artists with distribution through Universal who own their own label who are this high in the game.”

Darwin Ortiz, her manager adds, “What’s beautiful about Cara owning her own label, Quici Media Holdings, is that she could get away with rejecting ideas that doesn’t suit her artistic style.” I was able to check out the rest of Cara’s songs (my favorite is rendition of the Beastie Boys’ “Fight for Your Right”), and I must warn Cascada, Ke$ha, Rihanna and other dance divas: Cara’s going to be making a scene and evacuate your dance floors. Her YouTube video has gotten over 20,000 hits in just two weeks and there is no end in sight.
