Vassar’s Stage Door
Where women are men and men are women
The Vassar College Drama Department’s Experimental Theater will present four performances of Stage Door, by Edna Ferber and George S. Kaufman, directed by Christopher Grabowski.
Stage Door has consistently been performed in the repertoire of the Vassar Experimental Theater because it calls for a large cast with many female roles.
This year’s production will be different, “an intellectual theatrical exploration of heteronormative identities: women will play women, women will play men, men will play women, men will play men in drag. When the curtain rises, the well-known characters who enter through that stage door will be refreshingly new.” notes stage manager Marya Bernosky ’12.
