Ok so this artist isn’t the typical singer you’d find in the pages of Encore or on our site, but we thought it was worth giving her a mention anyway….

Crystal Bowersox grew up in Elliston, Ohio, and yes the runner-up on the ninth season of American Idol. She performed her first professional gig at the age of 10. From local bars in Toledo, Ohio, and at the age of 17, she moved to Chicago looking to make it as a singer. Bowersox most commonly played as a busker at several train stations a long with open mic opportunities.

While performing at one open mic night, Bowersox met musician Brian Walker. They were married earlier this year at Uncommon Ground Café in Chicago, the restaurant where the couple had met 6 years ago.

Bowersox’s debut album Farmers Daughter will be released on December 14, 2010 under Jive Records.
