Internationally acclaimed ensemble Orpheus Chamber Orchestra will perform with rising British soprano Kate Royal as part of their annual Carnegie Hall series this weekend.

The performance will include Barber’s Capricorn Concerto Op. 21, Britten’s Les Illuminations, and Beethoven’s Symphony No. 7.

Kate Royal, born in London, studied at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and the National Opera Studio. She’s known for her exquisite musicality and intense stage presence at opera houses around the world, joins the orchestra for Benjamin Britten’s magical Les Illuminations, which sets to music nine prose poems of Arthur Rimbaud’s famous work.

Orpheus is delighted to be giving Royal her Carnegie main stage debut with this performance. Royal will make her Metropolitan Opera debut next spring in the role of Eurydice in Gluck’s Orfeo ed Euridice.
