If you are lacking a significant other, there really is no need to be in a funk on the worst day to be single, why of course I mean Valentine’s Day. The 14th of February is called Single’s Awareness Day for a good reason, but binging on sweethearts isn’t the case anymore, for dancing cures all. For two nights, Friday February 11th and Saturday the 12th, Joe’s Pub is housing the dance event, Heartbreak and Homies, a fitting title for a night of non-stop dancing and melancholy songs.

Abraham.In.Motion, the brood of dancer, Kyle Abraham, encouraged attendants to comment on Facebook the name of the greatest heartbreak songs they wished to hear and to see be performed, of those requests the following tunes have been chosen: Let it Die by Feist and Def Ears by Eric Roberson, among others. Focusing on Valentine-inspired works designed by Kyle Abraham along with performers Faye Driscoll, Alex Escalante and David Dorfman Dance, the entertainment consists of a series of solos, duets and continuous choreographed renditions of different musical genres of heartbroken tunes.

The show is hosted by dance group, DanceNOW [NYC], who since 2003 have been sharing only the most extraordinary dance moves that have shaped New York for decades. This show is the start of DanceNOW’s Feature Artist Series: Dancemapolitan 2011, in the spirit of Dancemapolitan, a ticket special is currently in the works where you can purchase three tickets for $36 for the group’s February, April and June affairs. Heartbreak and Homies serves as the kickoff of this grand theatrical endeavor, thus of course only the best dancing talent will be showcased to uplift the hearts of the lonely, and plus there is bound to be great food.
