With a dark, atmospheric, fuzzed-out sound appropriate for the onset of southern California’s June gloom, San Diego’s Tape Deck Mountain is bringing a west cost vibe to Brooklyn. The lo-fi duo’s tenebrous shoegaze comes through like a strong storm on the new song “Kellies.” As a followup track to their Secret Serf EP, the song is a heavy stomper with the drum line driving the rest of the layers. Truly a unique track, the only physical copy of the song can be found on a limited-edition cassette (100 copies) that TDM made for the tour.

TDM are on their first headlining U.S. Tour, though their reverb-drenched chillwave rock sound has already reached the far corners of the country. Tape Deck Mountain first made waves by releasing their debut EP Sparks on the unconventional (but quite fitting for their name) medium, our old friend the cassette tape. The band has traveled extensively since their first appearance at the annual SXSW music festival in Austin, Texas, continually exploring and developing their sound.
