Artists of the past, present, and future unite to celebrate Performance Space 122′s 30th anniversary season.

Part of the RetroFutureSpective Festival, the Old School Benefit will present a variety of events which highlight PS 122′s history, and performances which in turn illustrate its future.   For four nights, the LES Lounge will serve as a hub for participants and attendees to socialize and reminisce over important events across three decades, from PS 122′s early formation out of an abandoned public school to its recent productions.

The Old School 122 Benefit will itself be a memorable and historical landmark for PS 122, and Sarah Maxfield will be there to interview participants and collect accounts to further illustrate its history.

In addition to the shows, people will have the opportunity to explore unseen, off-limit spaces through Praxis’s exclusive pre-show “Ghost Tours,” which present different aspects of PS 122′s history in the form of ghost portraits.

Confirmed performers include:  Thurston Moore, John Zorn, Elevator Repair Service, Penny Arcade, David Leslie, Big Art Group, Young Jean Lee’s Theater Company, Charles Moulton, The Wooster Group, David Levine, Deb Margolin, Holly Hughes, Maria Hassabi, Temporary Distortion, Jennifer Miller, Jack Ferver, NTUSA, Neal Medlyn, Penny Arcade, Peter Rose, Praxis, Philippe Quesne, the TEAM, Sally Silvers, Mabou Mines, Tom Murrin, Sarah Maxfield, and more.

Performance Space 122 is a non-profit arts center in New York City, known for its innovation in the performing arts and multi-media.  PS 122 actively seeks and supports artists who challenge ideas, experiment, and deviate from the norm in contemporary performance.  The organization also aims to extend the artists’ work outside the performance space, by addressing issues and events in today’s society.
