Summer Salon Series
Martha Wainwright to Perform Two Shows
Due to popular demand, a second Martha Wainwright show has been added to the Summer Salon Series, co-hosted by Joe’s Pub and The Annie O. Music Series.
Singer-songwriter Martha Wainwright is a refreshing presence in the music industry, known for delivering her moving lyrics with an equally moving, expressive, and sometimes haunting voice.
Entering the music scene in 1998, she began her recording career by contributing the song “Year of the Dragon” to the album The McGarrigle Hour. She released her self-titled debut album Martha Wainwright in 2005, and was met with favorable reviews both critically and commercially. Then in 2008, she followed it up with her second album I Know You’re Married But I’ve Got Feelings Too.
Martha Wainwright went on tour last year to promote her third album, Sans Fusils, Ni Souliers, à Paris: Martha Wainwright’s Piaf Record, which pays homage to the legendary Edith Piaf. The album was well-received and further exemplified Martha’s musical talent.
While currently working on her next studio album, Martha Wainwright will be performing two shows as part of the Summer Salon Series. Both shows will be held on the same night, Monday August 22, at Cooper Square Hotel’s Penthouse.
Joe’s Pub at The Public Theater is currently undergoing interior redesign and renovation, and in result closed its doors and halted programming for the first time in 13 years. One of New York City’s most celebrated venues, Joe’s Pub is known in the New York community for hosting a variety of quality performances at affordable prices.
The Annie O. Music Series, curated by Annie Ohayon, presents a variety of musicians from around the world through monthly showcases at the Cooper Square Hotel’s penthouse.
In order to appease audiences and artists during the summer renovations, Joe’s Pub and The Annie O. Music Series teamed up and decided to co-host a series of salon performances that take place in Cooper Square Hotel’s 21st-floor penthouse, with its scenic 360-degree view of Manhattan.
The decision to co-host the Summer Salon Series gives the public the opportunity to experience a Joe’s Pub-style diverse line-up of artists, while at the same time experiencing the intimate and scenic space the Cooper Square Hotel penthouse provides.
