Like Gang of Four, I need a cheeseburger to go (Photo: Josh Kurp and Nadia Chaudhury)

Danny Meyer’s empire continues to grow. Yesterday, the fourth Shake Shack opened on 44th and 8th Ave., in the heart of the Theater District. Say what you will about Meyer—New York magazine recently wrote about how the number of restaurants with his name attached is becoming chain-like, which I partially agree with—but the man knows how to make a good burger. Well, his employees do, but you get the point.

There she is, in all her across-the-street-from-McDonalds-and-crappy-gift-shops glory. At 11:45 a.m., there was already a line.

A friendly concierge hands out menus while you’re waiting in line in order to hurry up the process once you’re at the register. From where I was in line, roughly 15 people out the door, it takes about 15-20 minutes to get your food. Unlike the other locations, there’s only one line, although they’ll be add a C-line (for cold items) shortly.

Inside. Lots of places to sit, multi-colored chairs and weird square things on the ceiling make for a pleasant enough decor.

You haven’t experienced Shake Shack until you’ve waited on line for it? Actually, has anyone ever gotten the Shack and not waited in line? Hell, I’ll bet the first person in line every morning has to wait…

The wall of food choices, in case the menu was too confusing. You can also buy Shake Shack shirts and onesies.

Even the staff of The Wendy Williams Show craves an occasional ‘Shroom Burger. Or maybe the food was for Wendy herself? Wow, I may have stood in line with the guy who grabs the food for BET’s most popular daytime talk show host.

Where the magic happens. Now get ready for some food porn.

You like that? I bet you do. More you say? Well, if you insist…

Oh yeah, that’s the money shot. Phew, that was good. I didn’t eat both of these, by the way. I had help. To prove my point, here’s a picture taken of me by my girlfriend, Nadia.

Little does she know that the burger and I are going to run away together. Also, I always no have expression on my face when I’m eating.

Right as we left, it started raining. But that didn’t stop people from waiting for those oh-so-delicious burgers. For more information on Shake Shack, click here. The Theater District branch is open daily from 11 a.m.-Midnight.
