The National, Yeasayer and Plants and Animals are bringing the indie rock noise to Central Park for a concert that will serve as a benefit for more free shows at Rumsey Playfield. Much like the recent Spoon show in Prospect Park, this concert is not free, but at $30 you are getting three solid bands at essentially $10 each, in picturesque Central Park, and the money goes toward a good cause. The National generated a lot of ink last year with their acclaimed album Boxer, and Brooklyn’s Yeasayer are delivering on the promise of their 2007 debut at Austin’s SXSW (look for the fireflies to provide a nice light show for this band’s psychedelic set of experimental rock). Also on the bill are Plants and Animals, a group that have been gathering momentum in the scene this year, further proving that Montreal is more than just a mad laboratory for The Arcade Fire.
