My Bloody Valentine to Curate Mountain Music Fest

All Tomorrow’s Parties is a roving festival curated by a different musician or band each time out. Named for the Velvet Underground song, the event has never taken place in New York until now. It usually happens in obscure locations in England or showcase nights at the Pitchfork Festival in Chicago, and boasts deep lineups that are both entertaining and a great history lesson.

True to its eclectic track record, ATP New York will serve as the high profile return of shoe-gaze legends My Bloody Valentine and also feature a number of other hotly anticipated indie rockers—who will be performing entire albums. The Meat Puppets will play their second record (yes, the one that Nirvana pulled several covers from). Downtown godfather Thurston Moore will air out his first solo effort, Psychic Hearts. Sets from Tortoise, Dinosaur Jr., Shellac, Built to Spill, Bob Mould, Les Savy Fav, Yo La Tengo, The Drones, Lilys and many more will all happen in the unpredictable and remote locale of Kutshers Country Resort, somewhere in the bucolic Catskill Mountains.

Yes, the Catskill Mountains. That is not a typo: It’s an expensive ticket with a big payoff that should insure a die-hard crowd with minimal knucklehead attendance. The price of admission includes lodging in what will certainly become the most colorful town on earth for one autumn weekend. This is not your father’s “Borscht Belt.”
