From warble to belt, from acoustic lull to rockin’ chords, the Godfather of Grunge, king of the 70s post-hippy survivors (The Village Voice nominated Young Best Artist of that decade), will continue to rock your world for two nights of stadium-worthy performance at Madison Square Garden. “Come On Baby Let’s Go Downtown” is recorded proof that Neil can kill on stage, but don’t you want to sway to “Cinnamon Girl” in your very own stadium seat?
Young has played Manhattan over 100 times, 9 just last year. He’s released over 40 albums. He’s been married for over 30 years. Those years have reduced the strength of his warble, but, in performance, this only amplifies the fragile emotion behind the lyrics of songs like “Cowgirl in the Sand” or “Harvest Moon.” Neil channels a muse that is passionate about the human condition. As he recently told interviewer Charlie Rose, “It’s a gift.” One that Young shares as often, and as best, as he can.
