There are many great songs out there about boats—“Ship of Fools,” “Yacht Dance,” “I’m on a Boat”—but rarely have rock ‘n’ roll and boats come together so literally as they do for Rocks Off’s Concert Cruises. Now in its tenth season, the Concert Cruises are where bands perform on a boat moving around the Hudson or East River. And don’t worry, there’s almost no chance you’ll ever hear Jimmy Buffett’s “Boat Drinks.”
Between April and October, Rocks Off, “NYC’s sweetest independent concert promoter,” hosts over 200 events and concerts in a variety of genres on their fleet of six ships. One night, Built to Spill could be shredding to “Strange,” and the next, New .45, a tribute to Sublime, will perform. The promoter also offers weekend rafting trips and transportation to Citi Field.
