It’s not a risky pick to say the revival of Tony Kushner’s Angels in America, presented by the Signature Theatre Company and held at the Peter Norton Space, will be the Off-Broadway play to see this fall/winter. Most of the seats are already sold out, even though they’ve only been on sale for about a week. You can still find tickets, although they’re $85, rather than the blink-and-they-were-gone $20 variety of last week.
The photo above is the recently released first official cast picture. From left to right: Robin Weigert (“The Angel”), Christian Borle (Prior Walter), Zachary Quinto (Louis Ironson), Zoe Kazan (Harper Pitt), Bill Heck (Joe Pitt), Billy Porter (Belize), Robin Bartlett (Hannah Pitt) and Frank Wood (Roy Cohn). The play is directed by Michael Greif.
Performances begin September 14, with an opening night on October 28, and run until January 30, 2011.
