You only have two more days to see Gentlemen Prefer Blondes at the Film Forum.

Based on the 1949 stage musical (which itself is based on a 1925 novel by Anita Loos), Gentlemen Prefer Blondes is a career high point for both Marilyn Monroe (who never looked better) and Jane Russell, and one of the finest films in director Howard Hawks’ long career. Lorelei (Monroe) and Dorothy (Russell) are nightclub singers on a transatlantic cruise to France, but before arriving there, they first must deal with jealous fiances, screwball mishaps and, of course, diamonds. They are a girl’s best friend, after all. It’s still as sexy and funny now as it was in 1953.

Gentlemen Prefer Blondes runs at the Film Forum until August 12. Showtimes are: 1:30, 3:30, 5:40, 7:50 and 10 p.m.
