Imagine if Billy Joel had shown up during a performance of Movin’ Out to sing “Goodnight Saigon”? Or how about Bob Dylan surprising the audience of The Times They Are A-Changin’ with a rendition of “Like a Rolling Stone”? (Still wouldn’t have helped that musical.)
For fans of Million Dollar Quartet, a dream is about to come true: On September 10, Jerry Lee Lewis will join the cast for a one-night-only performance following the musical’s regularly scheduled 8 p.m. show at the Nederlander Theatre. Lewis, whose hits include “Great Balls of Fire” and “High School Confidential,” is the sole remaining member of the Quartet, after the passings of Elvis Presley, Johny Cash and Carl Perkins.
It is not known which songs Lewis will perform, although I’m hoping for “What’s Made Milwaukee Famous (Has Made a Loser Out of Me).” For more information, including purchasing tickets, please click here.
