Considering how overrun the Tony Awards were with Hollywood folk earlier this year, it’s only fair that the Emmys, held on August 29, will pay back the favor. The following award presenters (some of whom are also nominated for awards) have a Broadway past:
Keri Russell—Off-Broadway production of Neil LaBute’s Fat Pig in 2004.
Will Arnett—Co-starred in the film On Broadway, about a carpenter who writes a play about his uncle’s death.
Edie Falco—More than just Carmela Soprano and Nurse Jackie (although that’s pretty darn impressive), the SUNY Purchase-alum has also performed in Side Man, Frankie and Johnny in the Clair de Lune, ‘Night Mother and This Wide Night.
Laurence Fishburne—Won a Tony for his role in Two Trains Running.
Juliana Margulies—Post-ER, she has appeared in Intrigue with Faye, Ten Unknowns and The Vagina Monologues.
Matthew Morrison—Before playing Mr. Schuester on Glee, Morrison was one of Broadway’s hardest workers, with roles in Hairspray, Footloose, The Rocky Horror Show, 10 Million Miles and The Light in the Piazza, for which he was nominated for an Tony.
Sofia Vergara—Had a five-week run as Matron “Mama” Morton in Chicago.
Also presenting are Stephen Colbert, Tina Fey, Ricky Gervais, January Jones, John Krasinski, LL Cool J, January Jones, Joel McHale and Matthew Perry.
