Bodies delivers fun and facts
| | More
With over eight million people living in New York City, it’s easy to think that you’ve seen every kind of body there is. But you’ve never quite seen the human body until you’ve visited Bodies… The Exhibition. Equal parts informative and awe-inducing, the exhibit—which began as a temporary installment in 2005 and was extended indefinitely by popular demand—features an inside look at every biological system in the human body.
The new view on the human form is brought to exhibit-goers by special preservation methods that allow preservation of the body inside and out. The exhibit features a thorough look at each part of the body’s intricate system: biological, nervous, circulatory, digestive, respiratory and reproductive, even offering an inside look at what prostheses look like in the body. Each exhibit is visually captivating, thanks to a number of preservation systems that allow viewers to see human biology in a way that no book could ever describe.
Especially stunning is the circulatory section, which manages to display the body’s intricate system of veins and arteries separate from the rest of the human form. The result is a striking and spectacular visual treat that can be best described as akin to a plant’s root system; it is a salient reminder of the interconnectivity of nature.
