I just hope we don’t have Large Marge to thank for this bit of good news: producer Scott Sanders announced yesterday that the hotly anticipated play The Pee-wee Herman Show, originally scheduled to begin previews on October 26 and run from November 11-December 5, will now add an additional four weeks of performances. This means families worldwide will be able to enjoy Cowboy Curtis, Pterri the Pterodactyl, Jambi the Genie, Chairry and other Playhouse favorites throughout the holiday season at the Stephen Sondheim Theatre, until January 2.
According to Sanders, “The reaction to Pee-wee’s upcoming Broadway engagement has been overwhelming, both in terms of ticket sales and generating excitement, so much so, we needed to add four more weeks of performances,” adding, “The Pee-wee Herman Show is perfect entertainment for family members of all ages and I can’t think of a better place to spend the holidays than with Pee-wee’s Playhouse.”
The new production is written by Paul Reubens and Bill Steinkellner and directed by Alex Timbers, with music by Jay Cotton.
Tickets for The Pee-wee Herman Show, which range from $67-$122, can be purchased here.
