Initial Cast Announced for The Normal Heart

The 25th anniversary cast for the Joel Gray-directed The Normal Heart was announced yesterday. The one night only performance will star Victor Garber, Jason Butler Harner, John Benjamin Hickey, Michael Stuhlbarg, Patrick Wilson and, in his first role since Angels in America in 1994, Joe Mantello, playing the main role of Ned Weeks.
Additional casting will be announced soon.
Written by Larry Kramer, The Normal Heart is about the early years of the AIDS epidemic. It originally ran at the Public Theater for 294 performances. This year’s performance, however, will be for one night only, on October 18 at 7:30 p.m, with benefits going toward The Actors Fund and Friends in Deed.
