Like your food with a side of music? The New York Philharmonic recently announced the second season its “Musical Suppers,” in which a post-concert supper is served by five of the world’s finest chefs. Hosted by Mimi Sheraton, “Musical Suppers” features the talents of chefs Kurt Gutenbrunner, André Soltner, Alain Ducasse, Marcus Samuelsson and Michael White on five separate Fridays throughout the Philharmonic’s season. The food will be served at Arpeggio Food & Wine in Avery Fisher Hall, and diners should expect special guests joining them, such as Philharmonic President and Executive Director Zarin Mehta; Philharmonic musicians; and Music Director Alan Gilbert. Tickets cost $225/person, in addition to a concert ticket, and can be purchased here. Here’s what on the menu, so to speak:

December 10: Kurt Gutenbrunner
Chef/co-owner of Wallsé, Blaue Gans and Neue Gallerie, Gutenbrunner will design a festive menu in the spirit of a Viennese Christmas.
Concert: Sir Colin Davis conducts works by Elgar and Mozart; violinist Nikolaj Znaider is soloist.

January 7: André Soltner
The legendary chef/owner of Lutèce will create a menu that includes the dishes reminiscent of those that earned that restaurant its prestigious reputation.
Concert: Music Director Gilbert conducts works by Mozart, Mahler and Thomas Adès; soloists are baritone Thomas Hampson and Mr. Adès at the piano.

January 28: Alain Ducasse
Ducasse’s menu will reflect the creative French cuisine that has won him kudos at Adour Alain Ducasse at the St. Regis New York.
Concert: Music Director Gilbert conducts works by Beethoven and Nielsen; soprano Karita Mattila performs songs by Sibelius.

May 6: Marcus Samuelsson
Samuelsson, who is about to open the Red Rooster in Harlem, will create a menu which, like the restaurant’s menu, will include dishes drawn from his backgrounds in Africa, Scandinavia and the United States.
Concert: Music Director Alan Gilbert conducts works by Bartók and Beethoven; violinist Lisa Batiashvili is soloist in Bartók’s Violin Concerto.

June 10: Michael White
The menu of stylized but authentic Italian regional dishes planned by White will comprise four from his most celebrated restaurants—Marea, Alto, and the two newer entries: Ai Fiori (scheduled to open in November 2010) and Osteria Morini.
Concert: David Robertson conducts works by Shostakovich, Rachmaninoff and Schoenberg; soprano Deborah Voigt is soloist in Schoenberg’s Erwartung.
