Veronica: Suicide gave Heather depth, Kurt a soul and Ram a brain. I don’t know what it’s given me, but I have no control over myself when I’m with J.D. Are we going to prom or to hell?

Still not sure of the answer, but I do know one place you’re going: the theater. Tonight and tomorrow, Joe’s Pub will present the New York debut of Heathers: The Musical, based on the 1989 film starring Winona Ryder and Christian Slater about a group girls—the Heathers—who rule the school and must be destroyed.

Tonight’s concert will feature songs from the upcoming musical, complete with a full band and some of Broadway’s best vocalists, including Annaleigh Ashford and Jeremy Jordan in the roles originally portrayed by Ryder and Slater with the Heathers played by Jenna Leigh Green (Wicked), Corri English and Christine Lakin (Reefer Madness).

The musical is directed by Andy Fickman (Reefer Madness), with book and lyrics by Kevin Murphy and Laurence O’Keefe. Tickets are sold out (sorry), but that doesn’t mean we can’t quote the film:

J.D.: Football season is over, Veronica. Kurt and Ram had nothing left to offer the school except for date rapes and AIDS jokes

Heather M.: God, aren’t they fed yet? Do they even have Thanksgiving in Africa?
Veronica: Oh, sure. Pilgrims, Indians…Tator Tots. It’s a real party continent.

Kurt’s Dad: My son’s a homosexual, and I love him. I love my dead gay son.
J.D.: Wonder how he’d react if his son had a limp wrist with a pulse.

Veronica: I just killed my best friend.
J.D.: And your worst enemy.
Veronica: Same difference.
