TV Party! Begins with Arrested Development

How much did that banana suit cost, Gob?

While most of the city is paying attention to the (overrated) New York Jets tonight, all the cool kids—which is to say, nerdy and fans of in-jokes—will be at the Knitting Factory watching episodes of Arrested Development, while enjoying frozen bananas (remember: the money’s in the banana stand) and listening to the Nevernudes, an A.D. tribute band.

Tonight begins the Knitting Factory’s TV Party! series, in which some of the small screen’s greatest triumphs will be screened for free, including Six Feet Under, Freaks and Geeks, Buffy the Vampire Slayer and The Sopranos. For anyone who likes good TV, i.e. not Two and a Half Men, every Monday night will be spent at the Knitting Factory.

As for Arrested, tonight is the best of season one, while September 20 is dedicated to season two and September 23 to its third (and final) season. Along with the bananas and Nevernudes, there will also be magic performed by everyone’s favorite illusionist, “Gob,” and A.D.-inspired songs (“Afternoon Delight”?) will be spun by D.J. Fangbat.
