The Festival of Lights just didn’t feel right last year. That’s because Yo La Tengo didn’t perform their mini-residency at Maxwells that the Hoboken-based band had done every year since 2001, with each concert coinciding with the eight nights of the December holiday that isn’t Christmas. But the Hanukkah Fairy has answered the prayers of this little nice Jewish boy: Ira, Georgia and James are back.

From December 1-8, Yo La Tengo will perform eights shows, all complete with a musical act, a comedian and a set from the band. In the past, everyone from Stephin Merritt to Ray Davies to David Cross has performed during the Hanukkah shows, so while you never know who you’ll get, you know it’s going to be someone good.

Tickets, which cost $30 with proceeds going to charity, for all the nights go on-sale today, September 15, at noon. They can be purchased here—and I recommend sitting by your computer with your credit card exactly at noon. Tickets go fast. I’m not sure which night I’m getting tickets for yet, but here’s hoping that whichever one I do pick, the band decides to play the enterity of And Then Nothing Turned Itself Inside Out, with special guest appearances by Bruce Springsteen and James Gandolfini.
