A movie about a love triangle made up of Susan Sarandon, Catherine Deneuve and David Bowie sounds pretty good. To make it even better, Deneuve and Bowie are vampires. And Denevue and Sarandon make out at one point. And it’s set in New York. And the film’s directed by Tony Scott, who would later make Enemy of the State. And did I mention the vampires?

What I’ve described above is The Hunger, and it’s either exactly how good it should be (lesbian vampires and David Bowie) or really dissapointing. I can’t decide. Either way, it’s playing tonight, September 15, at BAM at 4:30, 6:50 and 9:15 p.m., so you should decide for yourself. One brilliant decision: putting Bauhaus’ “Bela Lugosi’s Dead” over the opening credits. No wonder The Hunger is considered a goth cult classic.
