The fashion extravaganza continues at Nolcha Fashion Week. Day 2, September 14, of the celebrity magnet event features stunning shapes, silhouettes and bold colors. Some 25 designers from all over the globe showcased their collections to influential media personnel and industry insiders. Yesterday’s event took place at the magnificent Reuters Building in the Financial District. Encore was there to bring you guys what’s hot for the 2011 spring season.
Ethical Fashion Preview kicked off Nolcha’s second day by showcasing accessories and garments of international designers, including Elena Garcia, GUNAS, Semprelei, Miksani, Nicole Bridger, Tammam, Vella Mode, Vicerra, Yalerri and Zele. Hosting the accessory booths were Adha Zelma, Bessi & Company, Evolve45, M Brulee Inc and Maleku Jewelry.
Nicolette Mayer, LUXXE’s designer, was the first to unveil her spring collection. Mayer’s assortment features comfortable fabrics without forgetting sex appeal. Nicolette found inspiration in the luxury of beach resorts. Blue and coral were the colors of her spring 2011 collection. LUXXE’s collection showcases flawless essentials that flatter and enhance every body shape.
The day continued with five more runway shows. The first of the second batch was from former Michael Kors freelancer, Alice Yim. Her spring designs features soft, delicate fabrics paired with edgy colors. Her pieces are versatile and her skills in tailoring show in her garments. Her collection can easily be worn from day to evening.
Mark Patito’s collection feature apparel with weave details, embroidering, jewels and accessories developed by a group of rural communities that commercialize their product in various parts of Mexico. His clothes are comfortable yet chic because there is a presence of subtle and elegant form that is well presented.
Vivienne Pash displayed her spring collection of classic pieces blended with today’s trendy shapes. Jumpsuits of soft, silky fabrics were featured as well as flattering dresses in neutral shades and colors.
Hepsen Uzcan, designer of Semprelei decided to go bold with bright colors for her collection. Her designs strongly represent her skill in centuries-old Ottoman lacemaking called “Oya.” Uzcan’s collection reflects her vibrant personality. Her color choices are bold and loud: bright green, yellow, red and blue ruled her runway show.
Dora Abodi’s expertise in tailoring once again proved her rightful place in the show. Her pieces are intricate in details yet comfortable and ready-to-wear. She plays with bright colors and neutral pieces. One of my favorite looks of the entire collection was a pleated red skirt with a nude corset top with sweetheart neckline.
Paul Aarrington’s denim collection is sexy and laid back. Very reminiscent of the West Coast chill attitude, his jeans are versatile. His models sported sneakers, sunglasses and messenger bags.
Stella Simona’s French inspired spring collection is couture. Gorgeous silhouettes and colors ruled her runway show. Her collection features draping, fabric layering, flower details and lace. Her collection seemed to be a twist on the French maid outfit.
The second day ended with the Euro-Asian inspired KabukiU. Designer Telina Webb’s collection showcased sultry and elegant kimonos. The fabrics used were light and airy. Her runway show ended with an epic shimmery, silver colored eveningwear Kimono.
