Originally, I was planning to write an entire biography of why you should spend your hard earned money on a ticket to see the Levon Helm Band on November 26 (with Steve Earle) and 27 at the Beacon Theatre. Then I remember you could just go to Wikipedia for that (even though their entry on Helm is a little trim). So, instead, here are five musical reasons why you should, well, you know the rest:

He’s truly one of America’s greatest vocalists, even after throat surgery. Plus, back when I was extremely awkward looking, as opposed to just normal awkward looking, he allowed me to take a photo with him:
