When’s the Last Time You Raced to the End of the World?

Roald Amundsen, badass

| | More

I feel proud of myself when I have enough energy to walk from 59th Street-Columbus Circle to Lincoln Center, instead of taking the 1 train one more stop uptown to 66th Street, so Roald Amundsen and Captain Robert Falcon Scott, awesome as they may be, kind of make me feel bad about myself. After all, in 1911, they each set out to be the first person to reach the South Pole. Tonight at the Museum of Natural History, modern-day polar adventurers (!) and scientists will discuss this historic race and its implications, while there will also be a dramatic reading of the explorers’ original diaries.

The “Race to the End of the Earth Revisited” begins at 6:30 p.m. at the Kaufmann Theater. For more information about this free event, please click here.
