From now until Sunday, the Williamsburg Film Festival, otherwise known as Willifest, will provide a platform for not just budding filmmakers, but also musicians, performers and photographers. The festival’s mission is “for artists to enhance their career by exposing their film and music to an influential audience, gaining crucial media exposure and strengthening industry relationships.”

Thursday was the festival’s opening night (in DUMBO, for some reason), but over the weekend, beginning tonight, a lineup of over 170 will movies be screened. Below are a few of the feature length films worth checking out:

September 24, 9:30 p.m.
The Knitting Factory
Seducing Charlie Barker

Dark satire of the Manhattan entertainment industry in which a gifted actor, Charlie Barker, begins his fall from grace as he encounters a chameleon-like social climber.

September 25, 8 p.m.
Indie Screen
As Good as Dead

Seeking revenge for the murder of their religious leader, fundamental loyalists kidnap and torture the man they believe responsible, but the ensuing clash of right vs. left ideologies quickly reveals that they may have the wrong man, which puts them on a path toward a shocking twist.

September 26, 3 p.m.
The Knitting Factory
Pool Party

The story of McCarren Pool, the largest public swimming pool in New York City. Abandoned for nearly 25 years an incredible music series filled its basin for three short summers transforming Williamsburg, Brooklyn into a world-renowned destination.

September 26, 5 p.m.
El Puente
Empire of Silver

In 1899, a carefree young man must prepare to take over his family’s Chinese banking empire.

Willifest also has dozens of short films, a student film competition, panels and music, including a closing night performance by American Idol finalist Anwar Robinson (sadly, the Thomas Ian Nicholas Band played last night, so we missed the chance to see if he still looks like Henry from Rookie of the Year).
