The Broadway Flea Market is an annual event held every September that gathers the best of New York City’s theatre community to give back. It’s a fundraising event in which profits are donated to Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. Since its launch in 1988, it has helped provide critical services to those affected with AIDS with over $175 million in donations. This year’s market will be held at Shubert Alley (West 44th Street) on September 26 from 10 a.m.-7 p.m.

Some of the rare items donated by Broadway and Off-Broadway productions include cast recordings, costume sketches, autographed show posters, original scripts and photographs. In addition to all the rare goodies visitors will find, they can also stop by the Celebrity Autograph Table where their favorite Broadway stars will pose for a photo in exchange for a donation to BC/EFA. This year’s table will include the cast of Billy Elliot.

But the true highlight of the day is the grand auction. Besides priceless Broadway memorabilia, the auction also includes once-in-a-lifetime opportunities: the organization gives the chance of walk-on roles in Broadway and television shows and even in films to the highest bidder.

It’s not only Broadway and Off-Broadway stars visitors will get to meet; daytime television and dance personalities will also take part in this great fundraising event. To learn more about Broadway Cares/ Equity Fights AIDS and the Broadway Flea Market, please click here.
