| | More
It’s as if the partnership between jazz duo Mark Rapp and Don Braden (Braden-Rapp) and Chinese fashion house Blanc de Chine was written in the cards. The two artistic entities, the clothing design company that combines Eastern history and influences with up-to-the-minute modern fashion practicality and the musical pair that recently put a modern twist on the music of a jazz legend, are pairing their dichotomous worlds for one night of art. On Wednesday March 24, 2010, Blanc de Chine will debut its Fall/Winter 2010 Collections with Mark Rapp and Don Braden playing live during the show.
The collaboration between the musical partners and the luxurious Chinese design brand makes sense given the similarities between the two. Blanc de Chine, known for its efforts at merging traditional Chinese elements and modern lifestyles, are expert at presenting a fresh, innovative product that simultaneously reminds one of the rich history behind the designs. “Blanc de Chine has also been consistently amalgamating the richness of China – its philosophy, history, art and culture with the creation of a modern lifestyle. It has brought the quintessence of the Eastern culture to the fore expressing the discreet charm and flowing elegance typical of the East. Through it all, Blanc de Chine has enabled Chinese designs to combine what is traditional and timeless with modern lifestyle, so the world is able to get a glimpse of Chinese culture in its truest form, in all its splendor and potential,” explains Blanc de Chine representative Taryn Kraimer Scher.
Braden-Rapp, the new band led by world-renowned composer Don Braden and emerging trumpeter Mark Rapp, is no stranger to harkening to the past. Their debut album, The Strayhorn Project, is a modern tribute to a classic jazz composer, Billy Strayhorn. Putting their own smooth twist on the classic tunes of Strayhorn, a man whose time spent playing with Duke Ellington and touring around the world produced a varied style that changed the jazz world, Braden-Rapp will set the tone for what is sure to be a incredible collection by Blanc de Chine.
