As part of the New York Film Festival, the Film Society of Lincoln Center is screening two Elia Kazan films, sort of. The first one is America, America, arguably Kazan’s greatest work, about a young Greek trying to make his way to America. The lead character is based on Kazan’s uncle, making it also his most personal film. Following that full length will be a 60-minute documentary entitled A Letter to Elia, produced by Martin Scorsese and set to be screened on PBS shortly. Encore saw the film and it’s just as touching and personal as we’d hoped.
The screening begins at 6:15 p.m. and more information can be found here.
