Whoever said that fashion and the environment couldn’t go hand in hand, has not seen the designs of Allison Parris. Eco friendly designer Allison Parris hosted her Fall/ Winter collection this past Tuesday, Feb 16th at 11am at Skylight West. The space was a beautiful raw warehouse style venue with sky-high windows, which was a breath of fresh air compared to the traditionally crowded Bryant Park Tents.

Front row, aside from myself, I noticed that everyone seated beside me showed tribute to the designer by decking out in Allison Parris designs. From the signature classic silk shirtdress with shirred sleeves, to the short ballerina tutu skirt that was styled on the cover of our February Fashion Issue of Encore Magazine, the audience admired each other, each noticing their similar Allison Parris designs.

The models came out in front of a cream backdrop with the AP monogram. Up and down the runway, models strutted their stuff with similar patters from previous collections but with a professional sleek twist. Wool seems like a popular item to hold on to for Fall 2010. A few of my favorite details were the black leather tassels hanging on the skirts and the chain links that donned many of the tank tops and shirts. Most of the skirt and dress designs had back zippers, which gave it a sexier feel.

Her line would be described as easy chic meets pro-glam. A standout piece to me was the Wool Pencil Skirt with Side Swag paired with the Chain Link Tank. Sleek, glamorous, professional. Check, check and check. Another one of my favorite pieces was the Cream Wool Evening Coat with Exposed Zipper and Brass Hardware. It created asymmetrical lines and an illusion of an hourglass body shape, a desire that is usually pretty difficult to fulfill with a coat. Hello skirts and dresses with side swag- you will be very popular pieces come fall.

Gift bag items included mini cupcakes from Baker Twany Ong, a gift certificate from Jeeves Dry Cleaners, a Blisoma facial moisturizer and a lavender body spray by Kerstin Florian. Too bad there wasn’t a silk romper or chin link tank in there. I would have had a field day with that one.

Congratulations Allison Parris on a successful Fall/ Winter 2010 show! I’ll see you come Fall, ready with my wool skirt with side swag!
