Beginning in October, the Public Theater will launch the Public Forum, a series of lectures, debates and conversations featuring some of the biggest names in arts and politics. The series is curated by Jeremy McCarter, senior writer for Newsweek. Tickets for the inaugural event can be purchased for $25 beginning October 5.

October 18, 8 p.m.
“Chasing the Green Light”
In honor of the Public Theater’s Gatz, explore F. Scott Fitzgerald’s novel, The Great Gatsby, and how America’s recent troubles have affected the American dream. There will also be a roundtable on Fitzgerald’s legacy, featuring Michael Friedman (composer/lyricist of Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson), Jay McInerney (author of Bright Lights, Big City) and Suzan-Lori Parks (Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright). Afterward, Arianna Huffington will discuss her new book, Third World America. Hosted by Sam Waterston.

“Who Lost America?”
In conjunction of Lisa Kron’s In the Wake, leading voices from across the political spectrum will consider how society has changed in the decade since Bush v. Gore.

November 29, T.B.A.
This event doesn’t have a name yet, but all you need to know is: Stephen Sondheim and Tony Kushner, on stage together.
