Our September cover boy, Philip Seymour Hoffman, and Mike Nichols are “laying the groundwork for a revival of Arthur Miller’s Death of a Salesman next year on Broadway,” according to the New York Post. In Hoffman’s case, if it seems like an odd role choice, well, it is; the actor’s in his 40s, two decades younger than Willy Loman, the titular salesman. Also of note: “Rumor has it that he played Loman in a high school production in Rochester, NY, with, I’m sure, gray spray paint in his hair.”

Hoffman’s theater roles include Long Day’s Journey Into Night, True West and The Seagull, directed by Nichols, who should only work in theater in this point, not film (Closer, Charlie Wilson’s War, Wit, etc.).
