When Let Me In, a remake of the modern vampire classic Let the Right One In, was announced, people first laughed, then got upset at the idea of a remake only two years after the original. Then the trailer came out and, whatdoyaknow, the movie actually looked pretty good. ChloĆ« Moretz, who plays Abby, is a legitimately talented child actress (more Natalie Portman than Jake Lloyd), if Kick Ass was any indication, as is The Road‘s Kodi Smit-McPhee, who’s probably just happy to have a real name (Owen) rather than being referred to as Boy. Plus, Richard Jenkins is good in anything but especially so in films and shows about death.
Tonight at the Museum of the Moving Image, along with a screening of Let Me In, Moretz and director Matt Reeves (Cloverfield) will discuss their film, presumably answering “why remake it?” for the 4,285th time this week. Tickets cost $18 and can be purchased here.
