How often in life do you have the opportunity to impress a real life celebrity with your smarts? And not a Snooki-level celebrity, either, but someone legitimately talented, like Ira Glass, Dave Eggers, Catherine Keener and Kristen Schaal. Tonight at the Canal Room (285 W. Broadway), those four will be the judges for the Spelling Beast, presented by the people behind The 25th Annual Putnam Spelling Bee.

Here’s how it works:

1. Find up to three other people who know it’s “supersede,” not “supercede,” and sign up here.

2. Head to the Canal Room at 7 p.m.

3. Prove your spelling abilities in front of celebrities and other logophiles.

4. Win.

5. Tell Dave Eggers, “I beat you.”
