The Young Patrons of Lincoln Center (YPLC) is quickly transforming the face of performing arts patrons in New York City. The membership group, which currently boasts about 300 members whose ages range from their early 20s to early 40s, is a community that offers its members an opportunity to celebrate shared interests and network, while expanding access to Lincoln Center and the arts. Hosting workshops, performances and some of the best galas in the city, the YPLC is fast emerging as the hottest club in town.
Events hosted and enjoyed by YPLC this year have included “Opera 201,” which presented audience members with a lively demystification of the seemingly complex art of Opera; and Improv 101, a hilarious introduction to performance’s most off-the-cuff medium. These workshops and performances are accompanied by cocktail and hors d’oeuvres and tickets are far less for members of YPLC. But the cherry on the sundae of YPLC events are the galas that receive considerable press coverage each year. The Annual Fall Masquerade Gala, which honored Georgina Chapman and Mark Ronson last year, was a huge hit and drew celebrities and New York’s most dazzling alike.
This summer, on July 15, YPLC will host one of its biggest events of the year, the Annual Summer Swing Party in conjunction with the Midsummer Night Swing at Lincoln Center. Hosted at the stunning Damrosch Park at Lincoln Center, the YPLC will bring together eight young patrons groups (over 800 people!) for what’s sure to be the party of the year. Renowned chefs will prepare tastings, wine and liquor sponsors will offer an open bar and specialty drinks will be on hand. A live band and professionals offering dance lessons will provide entertainment. Midsummer Night Swing is going to be the hottest party of the summer.
